Introduction
The Administrator role and System Administration area in the UI provide designated customer admins a centralized place to manage key configurations, as well as to manage who has access to the administrator functions. This provides the secure, auditable foundation that allows you to manage changes to your implementation without reliance on GAN, enabling faster adaptation as your compliance and governance needs evolve.
Please note: Administrator functions are available via the GAN Integrity Platform and are not available in legacy applications. Please contact your GAN Integrity representative if you are using a legacy application and are interested in migrating to the platform.
Accessing System Administration
For any user who has been granted the Administrator role, the System Administration link will be available in the left navigation panel.
The first administrator must be designated by GAN, but once the admin role has been granted, any user with the role can grant access to other users.
Managing Administrators
Any administrator has the ability to grant or revoke access to/from other admin users.
Granting the admin role provides access to all functions tied to the customer admin role. This includes:
Access to the System Administration space and the ability to grant and revoke the admin role to / from users
Bulk editing of user fields (accessed from entity lists, so not within the admin space, but still tied to the admin role) (Updating User Fields in Bulk)
Access to global system actions (accessed from record details views so not directly within the admin space, but tied to the admin role) (Using Global System Actions)
Managing notification templates and their translations (Managing Notification Templates and Translations)
Management of UI / form translations and access to form previews (Managing UI Translations)
Ability to generate a configuration blueprint (Generating a Configuration Blueprint (BETA))
Granting a user admin access grants them access to the above capabilities, in addition to the ability to grant and revoke the role from others.
While the admin function does not overwrite standard governance - e.g. you still cannot see a record that you do not have access to, it will allow you to update UI translations, archive, unarchive, edit, change status, and change user fields on records that you could already see but might not otherwise have access to update. Therefore, the role should be granted with caution.
When administrator access changes occur, they are logged in a central history within the System Administration space, as well as on the applicable user.
